Welcome to Chinatown C.A.R.E.S

The Pace University Community and Volunteer Mobilization (CVM) AmeriCorps program will be hosting Chinatown C.A.R.E.S on Saturday, September 10th from 11:00am to 3:00pm at the Broome Street Pit at Sara D. Roosevelt Park in remembrance of the 10th anniversary of September 11th.

The CVM AmeriCorps program was founded at Pace University in 2002 as a response to the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center. In the efforts to revitalize and rebuild the Chinatown and Lower East Side communities, our program provided critical services in adult ESL and computer education and public health and safety and disaster preparedness. Today, our program’s services have evolved with the changing needs of the community and have come to include services in youth education and non-profit capacity building.

The Community Resource Fair is designed to be an opportunity for local agencies and organizations to share information about the services they provide and connect community residents with those agencies and services. In addition to the fair, as a special tribute to the 10th anniversary of September 11th, CVM AmeriCorps will also be organizing several small service projects in the nearby area and will be inviting community residents to participate. Service projects include a cleanup of a local park and a care package drive for our troops abroad. It is our hope that community residents can attend the fair to learn about local agencies and their services as well as volunteer their time and give back to the community.
